Why would I need roof maintenance plan?

Spring-gutter-cleaning

Oklahoma is known for its wild weather. We get it all; wind, rain, sun, snow, and ice. We rarely stop to think about the buildings that protect us from the elements. It’s something we all take for granted. Consider for a minute that your home might be your biggest investment and your roof is the best protector your home can have. Wouldn’t you want to do everything in your power to keep your roof in great shape?

It doesn’t take long for a small roof issue to become a major nightmare. Lots of things can happen to your roof if no one is paying attention. A small issue can become an emergency when suddenly you’ve got a leak that damages your priceless belongings. Or if that small leak goes undetected for a period of time, then turns into mold and causes your family to become ill. Roof maintenance is inexpensive and if you can catch an issue early on, it can save you thousands of dollars in repair costs.

Trees are wonderful for shade in the hot summer months, but you might not notice that tree branch rubbing against your house. If left unattended, it could rub shingles off your home and expose your roof to the elements, like snow, ice and rain that become standing water and cause mold.

High winds can blow shingles up, caulking can crack and allow rain to get in, flashing around the fireplace can come apart, and animals can burrow their way into your home. Uninvited guests will help themselves to valuable items stored in your attic and munch on electrical wires. Once your visitor has made their nest and had babies, they’re going to be much hard to get rid of than if you had taken measures to properly seal off your home.

While roof maintenance might be something you think you can handle yourself, realize that we all procrastinate and delay these kinds of things until it’s too late. We get behind on other more “visible” chores and before you know it, it’s been several years since you last saw your roof. It’s also safer to have a professional inspect your roof. A roofer will know what they’re looking for and will know how to safely navigate your roof.

A lot of people think that because they have a brand new roof, they don’t need a maintenance plan. But, when you buy a new car you still need to change the oil. If you neglect oil changes, you’ll be stuck on the side of the road with a smoking car. If you want to keep that roof looking new and prevent leaks, you have to maintain it.

Our maintenance plans are custom for each home. Our team will come out to your home and inspect the condition of your roof then recommend a maintenance plan from one to four visits a year. Most of our clients have their roofs checked twice a year, depending on home and property needs.
