Roofing material update

Asphalt shingles

A few months ago, Land Roofing Enterprises met with every one of its manufacturers, each presenting pre- and post-pandemic experiences and updates. We got to learn some very cool stuff and important information!

Because of the issues the pandemic created with materials and inventory, we at Land needed to understand what’s currently available for our customers. All five of our manufacturers had representatives give us updates on their materials and inventory, and we would love to share them with you.

What we learned

Materials have been tough to get and are now more expensive. It’s important to be aware of what you as a homeowner can have access to so you know what to expect.

After meeting with five different manufacturers, we have these updates:

  • One manufacturer will no longer make impact-resistant shingles available due to high costs and low inventory.
  • One manufacturer will be implementing shingles from recycled materials such as tires.
  • Manufacturers are making a wider area on the shingles, creating a bigger area for nails. This will keep roofers from nailing too high and help shingles withstand wind better.
  • Some manufacturers have limited shingle colors. If homeowners want a specific color, we will have to search for it (but we are willing!).
  • One manufacturer is only using Oklahoma-made materials.

Providing a better experience

We at Land Enterprises Roofing continue to educate ourselves about materials, availability, and what homeowners want. If a homeowner wants something, such as specific-colored shingles, we will try our absolute best to get it for them.

Although the pandemic has created many challenges for the roofing industry, we strive to do everything we can to ensure our customers are happy with their homes. We ask that homeowners still be patient in the process as we find new and better ways to provide the best service.
